A fund to establish a new nativity scene

There has been an amazing outpouring of support from the Greensboro Community – from people who want to help re-establish the Nativity Scene on the front campus of Greensboro College. Responses have come from students, faculty, Christian and non-Christian groups around the city. Greensboro College is truly comforted by the many expressions of support that have been offered.

It has become clear that the Nativity Scene presented to Greensboro College by Jefferson-Pilot Life Insurance Company in 1989, is far more than a Greensboro College treasure. This Nativity Scene was admired and appreciated by the City of Greensboro and countless children and grandchildren grew up with this Nativity Scene as a major part of the celebration of the season.

In light of that response and the many offers of financial support, a fund has been established to enable the College to build a new and even greater display of the sentiments of the season. The College will construct a scene on front campus for all to enjoy beginning with Christmas 2008. It will be even grander in scope and excitement.  It will truly prove the good that can come from the actions of those who intended harm. The fund’s name is The New Nativity Fund.
