A Letter From Greensboro College President Craven E. Williams
Dear Parents and Students,

Let me tell you what makes Greensboro College different.

Although we are very proud of our small classes -- 16 students is the average -- we realize that other schools boast similar sizes. Even though we are proud that 100% of our tenured faculty hold terminal degrees in their disciplines, we know that there are other schools with similar achievements.

We realize that other colleges in the country claim close proximity to thriving metropolitan areas. Being in downtown Greensboro doesn't make us unique in that respect (although it does offer our students outstanding social, cultural and recreational opportunities). What makes us different is less measurable but more important. Here it is in one sentence: Greensboro College is a family.

That may sound corny...until you graduate from here and you look for a job. When you turn to other Greensboro College alumni for advice and assistance, it's all good.

It may sound overstated -- after all, I'm using "family" in a metaphorical sense -- until you graduate from here and you think back on all the lifelong friendships that have been formed. You realize that some of the best and most important days of your life were spent at Greensboro College -- in student life, in classrooms, in athletics and especially in the church and church-related activities that afforded you opportunities for spiritual maturation and growth.

The sense of family, of community, is the strongest aspect of an education at Greensboro College. It is what makes all our other statistics different. You see, we take our small classes and our highly educated instructors and we use them to create and nourish our students. That's where we get our feeling of connexion (as John Wesley spelled it).

You're getting more than you ever imagined when you attend Greensboro College -- you're making a small investment in a large family.
